Egypt: a sky of encounters
Temple ceilings reveal exchange rather than one timeless, unchanging doctrine.
A later arrival
The twelve-sign zodiac reached Egypt in the Ptolemaic or Roman period. It appears on temple and tomb ceilings and coffins. This is different from saying all Egyptian sky traditions began with that zodiac.
Look at the object
An image belongs to a material, a place and a purpose. Before assigning a modern meaning to a symbol, ask where it appeared and what its surrounding figures suggest.
An inheritance without shortcuts
Our visual language borrows the idea of careful observation, not a claim to secret Egyptian authority. A compelling image invites research; it cannot replace the evidence behind its history.
