Reading the sky / m00n editorial
Why the sky changes with the seasons
The night is familiar, but its window keeps moving.
A moving viewpoint
As Earth travels around the Sun, the night side faces different directions in space. The constellations visible after dark therefore change through the year.
Location matters
Latitude changes what rises above your horizon. A guide for northern Europe cannot simply be applied to the Southern Hemisphere. Match an observing guide to your location and date.
A small seasonal ritual
Return to the same safe place at the same evening hour once a month. Sketch the brightest points. Notice what has shifted before reaching for an explanation: attention is already a form of learning.
